Report on CanCham Christmas 2016 – supporting “Nāc līdzās!”

About 40 guests attended the first annual CanCham Christmas on Monday, December 5th, 2016 at the Trompete Restaurant, Peldu iela 24, Riga to herald in the Christmas season.

The festive season was greeted with a glass of hot wine enjoyed in a cozy setting at illuminated cocktail tables provided by RGBrasa with music provided by Artūrs Sebris playing the saxophone and Svens Vilsons on the guitar and. The feature of the evening was a lottery supporting the charity “Nāc līdzās!” (http://www.naclidzas.lv/en/about-us). Sarma Freiberga, Chairman of the Board, provided those present with an insight as to “Nāc līdzās!” objectives and work, and recognized the patroness of “Nāc līdzās!” - Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, for her support of the organization.

Trompete’s special menu was enjoyed by all guests while Henrik Mjoman, Linda Arāja and Indra Sproģe-Kalviņa offered raffle tickets to those present. This was followed by the draw where lucky winners collected their booty to a back-drop presentation of the donor companies – see http://cancham.lv/sponsors. A total of €535 was raised for “Nāc līdzās!”.

On leaving Trompete, guests were presented with a “piparkūkas” (ginger-bread cookies) bag especially prepared and baked by Indra to provide a “Canadian” flavour to the Christmas season. It turned out to be a comfortable evening with friends supporting those less fortunate than we are. Let the Christmas spirit prevail.
