Dear CanCham Members and Friends,

Happy New Year from the CanCham, with best wishes for 2020.

We would like to invite you to the next CanCham Corner talking place on Thursday, January 16th,  2020 at 18.30 at Singh’s Restaurant, Ìertrûdes iela 32, Rîga. http://www.singhs.lv/. The CanCham Corner is an informal get-together of CanCham members, Canadians and their friends. All welcome.

Please register at http://cancham.lv/events/cancham-corner-january-16th-2020 if you can come. Participation is free – you just pay for your own food and drinks.

Prior to the main event, CanCham group leaders will be meeting with their groups at 17.30 to discuss their action plans for the next few months.

We will have a special event this evening.

We at the CanCham have recognized the importance of understanding what each of us does professionally so that we can benefit from each other’s experience. Part of our 2020 program will be to get to know each other better, and to include our friends in the process. With that in mind, we are organizing our first  “Zole” tournament this evening. The tournament will take place from 18.30 to 21.00.

If you wish to participate in the tournament, please indicate so when you register.

If you would like to learn how to play the game or just watch, also indicate this when you register.

For those of you unfamiliar with the game - Zole (diminutive Zolîte) is a popular Latvian national trick-taking cooperative card game – see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zole for the rules. WARNING - Zole can become addictive. It is a fun and relaxing card game. For those of you from abroad – this is your chance to learn about a Latvian tradition.

Everyone welcome.

PS. Please mark your calendars for Thursday, January 30th, 2020 for our “Focus on Canada: Trade, Business & Export Development” event introducing Canada’s new Trade Commissioner to the Baltics, Mr Michael Eyestone, and our new Corporate Contributing Member Pierre-Olivier Savoie, the owner Savoie Arbitration who was involved in preparing CETA from the Canadian side. More info later.
