Please register here Dear CanCham Members and Special Friends, The Embassy of Canada to Latvia and CanCham are pleased to invite you to an exclusive farewell gathering in honour of Ambassador Brian Szwarc, marking the conclusion of his tenure in Latvia in the summer of 2026. This invitation-only event for CanCham members and selected representatives of the business community will provide an opportunity to acknowledge the strong cooperation developed with the local business sector and the valuable support extended to CanCham during Ambassador Szwarc’s tenure. Ambassador Szwarc formally assumed his duties in Latvia on September 7th, 2022. During his tenure, he witnessed Latvia emerging from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, supported Canada’s expanding defence role through Task Force Latvia, and actively promoted commercial and strategic cooperation during a period of significant geopolitical and economic change affecting global trade. During this same period, CanCham experienced a remarkable renewal with the support of the Canadian diplomatic corps under Ambassador Szwarc’s leadership. What began with the CanCham “Re-Start Reception” in May 2024 evolved into the dynamic and self-sustaining organization that CanCham is today, now representing more than sixty members and continuing to grow rapidly. Through initiatives such as TFL/DCC procurement seminars and the Strategic Partnership Initiative, CanCham is proud to actively support and serve the Canadian and Latvian business communities. We sincerely thank Ambassador Szwarc for his encouragement, engagement, and continued support throughout this process. The evening will also provide an opportunity to recognize and celebrate Ambassador Szwarc’s contribution to advancing Canada–Latvia bilateral trade and commercial relations, while hearing his reflections on his experiences in Latvia and his perspectives on the future of Canada–Latvia cooperation. Most importantly, we are pleased to share this special evening with our members, partners, and friends during what promises to be a memorable networking event.
