“Show & Tell” event schedule has been set.

  • Monday, October 26th, 18.30 – Construction Related Services
  • Monday, November 9th, 18.30 - Trade Facilitation & Export featuring presentations on the DMC system by Evija Baula explaining how the DMV system works and how exporters from both Canada and Latvia can benefit from the system, and Ed Kalvins will present the regions of Canada and where best to enter the Canadian market.
  • Monday, November 30th, 16.00 – “Show & Tell” Health & Leisure featuring a social evening after presentations. Topics will include remote medical consultations, medical tourism and planned conferences.

These events allow members and those interested in presenting to the CanCham to provide a five minute ppt presentation to both members and those interested in the particular subject. We will also invite Canadian companies to present via ZOOM. Four events are planned in the coming months.

General areas of discussion in ZOOM meetings included:

  • promoting the DMC system and how to “educate” our members on how to use it,
  • developing strategic partnerships between Canada and Latvia businesses,
  • the use of social networking sites to promote CanCham initiatives,
  • coordinating activities with the Latvian Investment & Development Agency, the Canadian Embassy in Latvia, the Latvian Embassy in Canada, and other business organizations interested in Latvia / Canada cooperation.
  • work with chambers of commerce / organizations in Canada,
  • marketing CanCham members through presentation evening and social media,
  • commercial out-reach initiatives to better understand Latvia’s manufacturers and service providers,
  • supporting the ISR Shadow program

Some objectives of the CRS Group were revised and defined as:

  • listing active and potential projects allowing members to be informed of potential business opportunities,
  • identifying member needs and possibilities between members to meet these needs,
  • identifying technology transfer possibilities and requirements

The TF&E Group addressed the following:

  • concentrate work with several members to achieve exports and/or develop strategic partnerships,

The Health & Leisure Group concentrated on :

  • developing remote Medical Services / Medical Tourism amongst members,
  • organization of conferences for 2021 (International Life Sciences Ass’n / ICNODAT conference, LAAC Conference).

Shadow program: The International School of Riga is promoting internships, CAS and other volunteer opportunities for its older students. The CanCham has agreed to support this initiative and has named it “the Shadow program”. As the program develops, students will participate in CanCham in-person and ZOOM events. Member companies who wish to do so can arrange for students to be involved in their companies.

Issue/Solution Process to be continued. This identifies member issues that should be presented to government deputies and officials for resolution using the method established by the CanCham.

Other information
CanCham will also be involved in the organization of two health related conferences, one in May related to a Life Sciences organization facilitated by one of our Canadian DMCs, and an ophthalmology conference spearheaded by our member, the Latvian American Eye Centre.
Par CanCham latvieđu valodâ – a presentation describing the CanCham in the Latvian language has been prepared by br.ook interior architecture. We thank Ligita Breěe and Baiba Rűíe for putting this together.
