Have you ever experienced bureaucratic problems when dealing with government and municipal agencies resulting in a waste of time and effort and left you asking “why do they do that”? Have you ever felt that there is nothing you can do about such things and have been left with a feeling of helplessness? Have you ever felt that Latvia does not have a good environment for business? If so, we need to talk.

The CanCham recognizes that there are problems, and we intend to deal with them and be part of the solution. We will consider actions to be taken to deal with troublesome government laws, regulations and/or practices. Those companies and individuals who have had “bad” experiences with regulations or see room for improvement to reduce inefficiencies in the municipal and national bureaucracy will be able to share their experiences and work with the CanCham to seek solutions. We have an established method to use which will be presented to members by Ed Kalvins, the President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Latvia. Ed will be joined by guest speakers (to be announced) who will share their views on regulation, methods being used to seek improvements on how we do business in Latvia. Forum participants are invited to share their experiences so that we together we can seek solutions. Participating will be: Andris Piebalgs (Chairman of the Unity Party - Vienotība) and Ilvars Pētersons (General Manager, Siemens Osakeyhtiö Latvian Branch).
