Fifty members and friends attended CanCham Christmas 2025 on December 1, 2025, at the Pullman Riga Old Town Hotel.

Christmas is a very special time of year for coming together, and at CanCham we value the opportunity to meet friends and business colleagues in the spirit of the season. The evening combined warm fellowship, festive entertainment, and a buffet dinner, while also strengthening the new relationships established over the past year.

Guests were welcomed into the newly renovated Pullman Riga Old Town Hotel with welcome drinks and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The Chairman of CanCham, Ed Kalvins, addressed those present with a short recap of the past year’s activities, highlighting a strong sense of accomplishment. Dinner followed, served in the elegant Pullman style.

During dinner, DJ Martiòð Ðmits, originally from Toronto and sponsored by CanCham, provided festive background music, adding to the Christmas ambience.

As the evening also marked CanCham’s 25th anniversary, participants were invited to take part in a quiz featuring questions about CanCham’s history. The first guests to answer correctly won a bottle of Canadian maple syrup. The questions included:

  • What was the name of the CanCham when it was originally registered?
  • How many Chairmen/Presidents has the CanCham had?
  • How many Canadian Senior Trade Commissioners have been involved with the CanCham?
  • What year was the Canada Latvia Business Association (CLBA) (CanCham’s predecessor) established?
  • What year was the name “Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Latvia” adopted?

This was followed by a rolling slideshow featuring photos from CanCham events over the years, allowing both long-time members and newcomers to reflect on moments from the organization’s past.

The evening concluded with a lottery featuring gifts generously provided by CanCham members and friends. Mark Watson, Communications Director of CanCham, served as Santa and assisted with the draw. Gift donors present at the event were invited to draw the winners, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere. All attendees received at least a small Christmas gift, making the lottery a highlight of the evening.

We wish all our members and friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we look forward to an active and engaging 2026.
