CanCham’s Focus on Healthcare and Strategic Partners on Monday, February 18th at 18.30 at the Unity Business Centre, 109 Vienības gatve
16.02.2019

Dear CanCham Members and Friends,

The CanCham invites you to join in our Focus on Healthcare and Strategic Partners.

This is the second working session in the form of a “roundtable” type discussion where the CanCham wishes to develop a plan to help its members develop business opportunities for its members and is a follow meeting to the one held on http://cancham.lv/events/report-on-canchams-focus-on-healthcare-and-strategic-partners?pp=.

The focus will be on those involved in

  • providing healthcare services in Latvia,
  • the production and sale of healthcare products or services,
  • medical tourism,
  • the search for strategic partners in the healthcare industry.

In the last meeting we discussed using the DMC (Destination Management Coordinator) concept. This concept has now been approved by the CanCham Board and discussed in the  Trade Facilitation & Export, and Construction Related Services groups as well as the Healthcare group. A Policy and Procedure is being developed prior to the launch of the program and search for DMC’s.

We identified that the following groups are required to be involved in the medical tourism project:

  1. Medical service providers: those providing the actual medical services whose expertise is more or less limited to these services (clinics, hospitals, doctors, dentists, surgeons, etc.).
  2. Non-medical service providers: including hotels, restaurants, spas, cultural attractions, sports attractions, tour operators etc. This is the group that would contribute added-value non-medical services to making the stay in Latvia pleasant.
  3. Supplemental service providers such as insurance brokers, financial specialists, legal experts, recruiters and marketing & sales specialists who would support the efforts of the care and service providers within their area of expertise. It was identified that this was an important segment that needs to be engaged for the overall effort and is needed by the medical community.

The agenda will focus on developing a program that the CanCham will offer to the public, and the nomination specific service providers for each category. Priority will be given to CanCham members.

Agenda

  1. Review of the last meeting
  2. Status of the DMC concept implementation
  3. Program development for medical tourism
  4. Marketing strategy for providing healthcare services locally and developing medical tourism
